the fouth and final limited edition delicacies 12inch this year is, in an slightly counter-intuitive twist, not taken from the forthcoming smd album, welcome to sideways. it didn t quite fit in with the flow of the track selection on the album, but we felt it really warranted its own separate release particularly because of the ace matrixxman remix. both versions are driving, minimal techno, scattered through with melodic bursts but matrixxman s lsd rework pushes the bpms and frenetic energy to new levels

this is the second episode of our various artists serie. the fallen (a collaboration between plural (james johnson) and fbk (kevin kennedy)) opens the e.p. with interference, a fast paced killer hypnotic dance floor friendly dub track: they create a sound that is unique, fluid and extremely danceable. philippe petit follows with exposed, a stripped down, bleepy bass-heavy rhythmic piece of techno. julixo brings us own structure, an aggressive jackin techno track leading to a warm synth line that will leave nobody indifferent. terrence dixon closes the e.p. with odd numbers, a track that only him can do. sub bass melodic techno reduced to the max: ace!

new beginning is aptly titled because its the first time for wordsworth and donel smokes to collaborate on an entire project. the outcome is bliss, from wordsworth’s graphic, storytelling style, accompanied by the scenic sounds of donel smokes, you get pure, no filter hip-hop music. with songs like f.u.(fingers up) featuring blu, or another day featuring masta ace, or do good featuring chali 2na, you get perspective of life, social issues, and ways to rejoice through it all. songs like hate and test of test will definitely spark discussion of reflection, while believe will give you a sense of optimism. this album is a great listen from new beginning to end.

2018 repress! common labour is back with another slamming compilation release. the four tracked 12” includes top notch offerings from an all-finnish producer guard. limited and vinyl only as per usual. a1 mirage man, born roope karhunen, has fingers in many pies. producing, performing and steering two record labels, this man does it all. fusion of noisy and raw rhythm section, sub bass and dub stabs in this track make a mean combo. a2 common labour head honcho potholes is back again with a funky tool. tabarnac is a mixture of live drumming and 303 licks in a skilfully produced manner. dreamy yet refreshing. b1 roberto spins silk with his old school rendition of the future - a fusion of deep house, latin, old school electro. surprisingly functional and unique combination which will challenge the audience to bust a few breakdance moves on the dance floor. b2 another ace from tuomas salmela’s sleeve. the trippy and balearic composition of -feroxified- takes the listener on a soothing journey that guarantees euphoric sensations. sterling track for most occasions.

vinyl only release! the cough & drop ep is a various artists reworks ep with a ronnie turner and edgar moon collab on the ace robertas slack single and then ronnie digs out two killer cuts, the first being chucks back reworking chuck brown and the soul searchers borrero e sombero and the second is the very rare ashphalt jungle track freaky time which has been tweaked up a bit strictly for groovers. we are sure this ep will be doing some serious dance floor damage in the months to come

massive two tracker from jonny miller on his 2nd edits release on kat.what you did is quite simply a whopper! disco music as god intended it - arms aloft, eyes shut, inhibitions nowhere to be seen, smiles bigger than life itself. what we have here is not an edit as such but a reworking of chaka khans what you did, subtly housed up, re-arranged, chopped, fil-tered and re-mastered within an inch of its life - chaka herself pretty much always sounds in-credible but here the vocal just seems to stand even taller than usual. on the other side we have something in which some of our slightly older party folk may well recognise. dionnes house classic from 88 gets the full edit treatment and the timing on this just seems so right. originally released on the ace bigshot label out of canada (and was just huge in the hacienda), re-mastered, stretched out, re-arranged and making the most out of all those old school stabs, ploddy bass lines and timeless vocals.
